Recently I met Jessie, a unique, almost 5-year old Huskie mix and CDO (Chief Dog Operator) of Dog Paddling Adventures up in Ontario, Canada. And what a super outdoorsdog she is!
So, what’s Dog Paddling Adventures? Well, it’s exactly what it sounds like. It’s a wonderful organization run by Eren and Kathryn Howell, whose mission is to bring people together who have a mutual interest in both the wilderness and their dogs by offering paddling, hiking and winter adventures on some of Ontario’s finest lakes, riverways and provincial parks. During the winter, there’s Skijoring, a variation of x-country skiing and mushing, and kick sledding, perfect activities to get you and your human working together – and they just added luxury weekend getaways. In the Fall and the Spring, there are weekend day-hikes – and even a singles fling for those of us with just one human companion. And, in the Summer – wow! The summer’s when Dog Paddling Adventures truly earns its name, offering 1-, 2- and 3-day Paw & Paddle Adventures, a 4-day “Ruff Water” Paw & Paddle, 5- and 6-day trips and a 4-day Family Pet-venture on which children 12 & under can come and join-in on the fun! And, all Dog Paddling Adventures include camping accommodations, delicious meals, the services of an ORCA (Ontario Recreational Canoe Association) and Wilderness First Aid certified guide, as well as all equipment, park permits, lifejackets and backpacks for both us dogs and our humans. Whether you or your human is a beginner or experienced paddler or adventurer, if you enjoy the outdoors, you’ll love Dog Paddling Adventures. So, give them a good sniff and check at Dog Padding Adventures at www.dogpaddlingadventures.com. And, while you’re there, bark hello to Eren, Kathryn and, of course, Jessie! And tell them Buzz, Sports Dog sent you! Paddle-on dude!
