Greetings Buzz Fans!

America’s Family Pet Expo was held at the Pomona, CA Fairplex June 24-26th of this year and Southern California dogs took the field and hit the water!

Candidae sponsored Rockets K-9 Comets® an award-winning Extreme Frisbee® Dog Team led by Rocket Hoskins and featuring an international array of breeds including Australian Cattle dogs, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Australian Kelpies and a Standard Poodle. The Comets delighted the crowd with amazing aerial acrobatics as well as a speed catch competition. Between you and me, if I wasn’t working the event, I would have loved to have joined them!

Additionally, the Dog Agility Racing Team (DART) presented Dog Agility demonstrations starring the Dog Agility Racing Team of Chino, CA. Dedicated to the promotion of dog agility in Southern California, DART currently sponsors USDAA and AKC trials and offers agility training seminars and clinics. I know that I was truly amazed at what some of my fellow canines can do as were all of those watching. For more information on DART, visit them at http://www.dartagility.org/.

Finally, there was Splash Dogs presented by Precise Pet Products. Talk about exciting fun! Splash Dogs is a dog-owner organization dedicated to promoting dock jumping in Southern California and other western U.S. areas. So, what’s dock jumping? It’s a wet-version of fetch. At Pet Expo, dogs of all shapes and sizes ran down a 40’ dock, catapulted themselves into the air and splashed into a 40’ pool, chasing after a favorite toy. What fun! And, every dog was a winner and got a ribbon to prove it! Again, I was working the event but would have given my favorite Speedo to have been able to dive into the pool.
